President and COO Larry Mahan featured in seminar at the IUV Conference in Louisville Kentucky on Tuesday, September 25, 2007.
New Castle, Delaware, September 28, 2007 On Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Larry Mahan, Sky-Trax President and COO was featured in a seminar at the IUV Conference. The conference was held in Louisville, Kentucky at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in downtown Louisville hosted by IUV Magazine. The Sky-Trax presentation entitled, “Inch-Accurate Indoor Positioning Technology: The Missing Link in Supply Chain Automation” was well received with full attendance and questions from the audience following the presentation.
During the seminar Larry discussed some of the current problems that exist within the Supply Chain Industry, the next generation fleet management technology that Sky-Trax is bringing to the market place and how the evolution of industrial vehicles has progressed to allow what was once perceived as a distant future to being possibilities of today.
Other presenters at the conference included Danaher Motion, IUV Magazine, ID Systems and many others. Sky-Trax presented its Indoor Positioning System (IPS) technology as the missing link for asset tracking and management. “With Sky-Trax we have the capability of tracking assets and inventory to the inch using optical sensing and we capture complete path data without the use of RFID”, said Larry Mahan. “With RFID technology companies claim 20 feet of accuracy in tracking assets; whereas our technology allows you to track to within inches practically in virtually any type or size of building.” In his presentation, Larry Mahan described how the visibility and tracking capability will change the industry with advanced fleet management, no-scan automated inventory tracking, routing optimization, and intelligent safety features.
Larry concluded the seminar with a preview about a new generation of free-roaming indoor vehicles using the IPS technology and how these Automated Directed Vehicles (ADV) will differ from Automatically Guided Vehicles (AGV). Forecasting that these industrial vehicles that will be available in the very near future. Larry stated, “The reality is that this technology is available today and many companies have already begun funding, investigating and utilizing these new technologies. In 6 month we can expect to see pilot systems with forklifts and ADV’s working together in a warehouse environments.”
